Genetics Explained:
The Fire gene follows the same inheritance pattern seen in Ball Pythons and Boa Constrictors. When a Fire Crested Gecko is bred to another Fire, the offspring follow a predictable genetic ratio:
- 25% Super Fire (Black Eyed Leucistic) – Homozygous for Fire
- 50% Fire (Heterozygous for Leucistic)
- 25% Normal Crested Geckos (No Fire gene)
When a Fire is bred to a Super Fire (Black Eyed Leucistic), the offspring will be:
- 50% Super Fire (Black Eyed Leucistic)
- 50% Fire (Heterozygous for Leucistic)
Additionally, when a Fire is bred to a normal Crested Gecko, 50% of the offspring will inherit the Fire gene, while the other 50% will be normal. This makes Fire an essential building block for creating the rare and highly sought-after Super Fire (Black Eyed Leucistic) Crested Geckos.
